The
Double Bubble Scent Ball is based on the Antique Witch Ball
which dates back to medieval times. It was traditionally hung
in the window to ward off wotches. Two theories behind this
were:
(1)
The witch was scared by its own reflection in the glass - which,
being round worked on witches approaching from any direction.
(2)
The witch was trapped within the ball.
In
early days, fishermen being very superstitious and affraid of
sea-devis and sea-apirits, took the balls from their houses
to sea with them to protect their nets and catch.
Jangles
have taken the traditional Witch Ball a stage further and blown
a bubble within the bubble - hence the name - Double Bubble.
The
inner bubble is open at the top - pour in a few drops of fragrance,
aromatherapy or essential oil and hang the Double Bubble in
a sunny window from the curtain rail. The heat generated by
the sun will evaporate the scent oil to give a pleasant fragrance
to the room.
